The FREE marketing tool for your business

How often do you make a purchase from a business without looking at the reviews first? Would you book in with a new hairdresser you had never heard of or one who had been recommended to you by a friend?

Without reviews and client testimonials you’d probably be scared to buy anything!

With that being said, we have a question for you... are you asking for reviews from your customers?

Getting great feedback for your product or service means:

-        Lots of FREE marketing!

Each review can be used to promote your product/service. Usually, if a customer writes a review, they are so happy with the product/service provided that they will talk positively about your business and recommend you to their family and friends. Word of mouth marketing is a gamechanger! If you do happen to get any constructive criticism, you can turn this into a great story for your social media. Take this opportunity, to improve on the feedback and show your customers that you are taking their feedback onboard.

-        Boost your SEO.

Search engines want fresh content and user engagement. Reviews coming through to your website means a continuous stream of user-generated content. This shows your business is relevant and actively engaged.

-     Customer loyalty.

By replying to your reviews this can lead to customer loyalty. This shows the customer that their opinion matters and are valued by the business, meaning they’re more likely to return!

We’ve convinced you to ask for reviews, but how should you do it?

-        Find the right time to ask.

Make sure they haven’t just received the product in the post, allow the customer time to use the product first. For example, a skincare brand should wait at least a few weeks before asking for reviews, to allow the customer time to try it out and see if they get the results promised.

-        Choose a method.

Will you send them an email, will you drop them a friendly message or will you be really brave and ask in person?

-        Offer an incentive.

Will they get 10% off if they purchase from you again?

-        Make it easy.

No one has the time to scroll for ages to find where to leave a review. Send them the direct link to leave a review, ensuring its only one click away. Don’t give them an excuse to not have the time!

-        Provide a template / some questions.

What would you like them to talk about in their review? Offer some guidance of what you would like them to include, how did the product / service make them feel?

-        Follow up on your request.

If you’ve been left hanging, send them a follow up email / message, tell them why it matters to you and your business.

Okay, so you’ve got some great reviews, but what should you do with them?

-        Email storytelling.

Tell the client story, how has your product / service changed their life? Why should others buy from your business? What will it do for them?

-        Add a dedicated page to your website.

Show visitors to your website how popular your business is!

-        Social media.

Add them to your highlights on Instagram, create a dedicated grid post, add them into your Instagram story strategy and utilise the hashtag #TestimonialTuesday.
