Delegating: a word that isn’t in a lot of business owners vocabulary.
Often business owners say to us, ‘I’ve just been doing everything myself’.
We get it, you don’t want to feel like you don’t have full control of your own business, and it’s hard to pass the baton over to someone else because you feel as though they won’t do a job as well as you.
But... controversial opinion... there is probably someone better than you at doing some of those tasks, such as social media and admin.
In order to grow your business, having the right support in place to help you handle things, will allow you the time to focus on your strengths and the income-generating tasks.
Systemising your business is a major step. If what you’ve built relies on you or doesn’t work consistently, you’ll never be able to grow.
And we’ve heard it all before… ‘A VA won't care about my business like I do.’
‘A VA doesn’t know my business like I do.’
But we WANT to see your business succeed; we WANT to celebrate your wins. Think of us as your very own cheerleader and admin assistant!
If we haven’t persuaded you yet, here are three more reasons why you should delegate:
1. Increased productivity
If being off sick or taking a holiday leads to your business having to pause, then it will be difficult for your business to thrive!
One of the main driving forces for growth is the ability to spend your time working on your business instead of in your business, and delegation is what makes this possible.
2. Prioritise important tasks
Delegating less important and time-consuming tasks allows you to focus on high-impact, business critical tasks.
You should be focusing on plans and strategies, whilst a VA can focus on your admin.
3. Avoid burnout
Working every day or late every night and missing time with friends and family to work, is a recipe for burnout!
Give yourself a break, you can’t do everything!
But how?
Firstly, if you’re still struggling to let go of your admin, ask yourself these five questions:
1. Is the task suitable?
2. Have I selected the right person?
3. Have I explained the process?
4. Have I set clear expectations?
5. Have I offered support?
Secondly, turn delegation into your daily habit.
Delegation shouldn’t be just a one-time thing!
Each day, write down everything on your to-do list that ONLY YOU can do.
On another note, write down everything that someone else COULD DO if you explained how or provided them with instructions.
Then, aim to delegate at least one thing from the second list to someone else and watch your productivity increase and your performance improve!
Are you ready to hand over some of those boring, little tasks? Send us your delegation list, we’d love to have a chat!
